Adeleke Akinyemi linked with Neftchi PFK move from IF Gnistan
Nigeria forward Adeleke Akinyemi, who currently plays for Finland’s IF Gnistan, is being linked with a move to Azerbaijan’s Neftchi PFK.
The 28-year-old centre-forward has made a strong start to the 2026 Veikkausliiga season, appearing in all 22 league matches and scoring 13 goals, while also providing one assist. He has started 91% of Gnistan’s league games and has been involved in 39% of the club’s goals in the competition.
Akinyemi joined Gnistan from fellow Finnish side Ilves on 27 January 2026, moving on a free transfer. His reported link with Neftchi would represent a move from Finland’s top flight to Azerbaijan’s Premyer Liqa.
The Nigerian previously won the Czech second division with MFK Karvina in the 2022-23 season and was the leading scorer in Latvia’s Virsliga in 2016-17, when he scored 10 goals for JFK Ventspils. He also won the Latvian Cup with the same club in 2017.
Akinyemi’s current contract with Gnistan runs until 31 December 2027, meaning any move to Neftchi would involve a transfer agreement between the clubs rather than a free transfer.
