The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee have hinted on plans to scrutinize the country’s provisional and final squad list from the national team coach, Jose Peseiro for 202t Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON).
Peseiro has been under intense pressure following the Super Eagles lackluster performance in the World Cup qualifiers in recent matches.
The technical committee frowned upon the Portuguese tactician invitation to players who don’t see actions at their various clubs as a reliable source revealed that the AFCON list will be vetted before final submission to CAF.
“Peseiro must submit his provisional list for the AFCON to the technical committee for proper vetting before it is forwarded to CAF,” The source was quoted by Complete Sports.
“Peseiro has kept on inviting some players who are not playing regularly for their clubs and they are not contributing anything to the team.
“This time around, he must present his list before the committee and defend it as it was the practice in the past.
“They have also told him to look in the direction of some players who are doing well at their respective clubs, especially midfielders, who can add value to the team.”
The Super Eagles will battle group A with host nation, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau in the AFCON.
