Afcon 2023: Victor Osimhen unbothered about goal drought despite Nigeria surge

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has refused to be worried about his inabilities to score goals as expected at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles forward was tipped to have recorded more goals at the tournament after leading the chart in the qualifying.
Osimhen has found back of the next once in the tournament which was the country’s first goal in the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea.
When asked about his drought, the 25 year old explained that victory for the team and quest to win the trophy are more paramount to him that individual glory.
“Those who know me, they know I don’t put myself before the team. If my goal comes, they come,” the Napoli striker told broadcaster Canal Plus Afrique.
“I want to help the team with goals of course, but if I am not scoring I am defending. If I am not defending I am fighting for them. I just want my team to be in the right mentality to win this tournament.”
The Super Eagles are into the semifinal of the tournament awaiting either Cape Verde or South Africa as they next opponent for a place in the final.
