Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kano Pillars have confirmed that their captain, Ahmed Musa, has been called up to lead the Super Eagles at the upcoming Unity Cup tournament in London.
The club made the announcement via their official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, congratulating the veteran forward on his selection.
“Captain Ahmed Musa is set to lead the Super Eagles at the Unity Cup 4-Nations Tourney from May 26–31, 2025, at Brentford Stadium, London. Congrats, Skippo!” the club posted.
Musa, who has enjoyed a resurgence in the NPFL this season with 8 goals and 2 assists, will spearhead Nigeria’s campaign in the invitational tournament, which features a competitive lineup including Ghana’s Black Stars, Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz, and Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Warriors.
Nigeria will open their campaign with a high-profile clash against arch-rivals Ghana on Tuesday, May 27, at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford.
The Unity Cup is seen as a key preparatory event for Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers and offers a chance to blend home-based talent with international experience under coach Eric Chelle’s guidance.
