Ahmed Musa to Be Honoured at 2026 League Bloggers Awards for Impact on Nigerian Football

Nigeria’s premier independent football awards platform, the League Bloggers Awards (LBA), has announced that former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa will be celebrated at its 2026 ceremony, which recognizes outstanding players and coaches from the 2025/26 season.

Musa, who currently serves as both General Manager and captain of Kano Pillars, has contributed six goals and four assists this season. Beyond his on-field performances, his leadership played a key role in securing French media outlet RFI as the club’s shirt sponsor.

LBA co-founder Ojeikere Aikhoje revealed the planned honour as preparations for the 2026 awards gain momentum. He lauded Musa for his dedication to Nigerian football and youth development, particularly within the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

“Interestingly, Musa shares a special connection with the LBA, as the awards were conceived during the 2009/10 season when he became the league’s top scorer with 18 goals, surpassing Ishaya Jatau’s previous record of 17,” Aikhoje noted.

He added that the recognition is especially meaningful because Musa is the only active Super Eagles player-captain to return to the NPFL while still playing at the highest level.

Describing Musa as a transformative figure in the league, Aikhoje emphasized that the forward’s presence, even during away games, has enriched the match-day experience for both fans and players.

Musa, Nigeria’s all-time leading scorer at the FIFA World Cup with four goals, has featured in 24 of 36 league matches this season, continuing to make a significant impact on Nigerian football.
