Akor Adams eyes victory against Guinea-Bissau
Nigerian forward Akor Adams says Nigeria are determined to secure another victory when they face Guinea-Bissau in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Bissau on Tuesday.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa ahead of the team’s departure, the Venezia forward expressed confidence in the squad and revealed that the players are targeting maximum points from every game in the qualifying campaign.
“It was a very tough game against Madagascar, and we had to dig deep to get the win. It’s always important that we start on a good note,” Adams said.
Nigeria fell behind early against Madagascar but fought back to secure victory, and Adams insisted that he never doubted the team’s ability to respond.
“I have supreme confidence in this squad. When we conceded, we knew we had to respond and fight back. I had no fears at all about the outcome of the game,” he said.
“As it happened, we were able to level the game before half-time and got the winning goal to make our fans happy. I don’t think any game in this qualifying series will be easy — even the Tanzanians, who have already qualified. Every game will be difficult.”
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s clash with Guinea-Bissau, Adams reiterated that the Super Eagles’ objective is to win every match.
“We want to win all our games, and the Guinea-Bissau game is no different. We’re going there full of confidence, hoping to get the three points.
“Like I said before, I trust this team, and together we’re going to fight to bring glory to Nigeria and qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations,” he added.
Adams started Nigeria’s previous qualifier against Madagascar in Uyo last Friday. Although he did not get on the scoresheet, the forward posed a constant threat to the Madagascar defence and played his part in the Super Eagles’ victory.
