Nigeria international Alex Iwobi remains optimistic about Everton avoiding relegation from the English Premier League this season.
The battle at the top seems to be over but it will be a race to finish at the bottom end of the table as Iwobi and his Everton team battling for one survival slot with Leeds United and Leicester City, with a game left to go.
The Toffees will be hosting Bournemouth at Goodison Park and nothing but a win will confirm their place in the Premier League next season, with the Cherries already safe, all the pressure will be on the Toffees.
However, the 27-year-old, who contributed ten goals this season is keen to make sure his squad will not go down as he aims to get a surviving goal or assist that helps his team stay in the top-flight against Bournemouth.
“He has been hobbling around on his crutches, coming into the changing room and trying to keep us motivated – he is Everton,” Iwobi told club media.
“He is always cheering us on and we can see what it means to him. So we are fighting for everyone here to make sure we stay in the Premier League.
“Seamus is always reminding us how so many people are affected by our results and what it means to Evertonians, to him, the people upstairs, the staff, and what it should mean to us. He always reminds us that the least we can do is put 100 percent in.
“We don’t want that history where Everton goes down and it is all on us. It is not going to happen in our names – that is what we are trying to make sure doesn’t happen. Seamus will probably talk before the game and that will kick us off.”
