Nigeria international Rofiat Imuran says she is fully prepared to work hard and excel on the global stage as the country for the ninth campaign at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer.
Nigeria are drawn in Group B alongside co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and debutants the Republic of Ireland at the upcoming global showpiece, involving 32 teams for the first time, from July 20 to August 20, 2023.
Following a brilliant performance at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, Imuran has risen to the senior team where she has continued to be an integral part of Randy Waldrum’s side.
The 18-year-old, who has become a strong force in the backline of French club Stade De Reims, admits she hope to work hard to get better every day, while urging her mates to give more for a successful Women’s World Cup outing.
“Talents and potentials only don’t win games, talent is important, but you have to have a very strong mentality, train hard and also work hard on matchdays,” former Rivers Angels defender said on NTA’s Super Falcons Show.
“It’s always a great honour to play for the Super Falcons. It has been a dream come true, and I want to keep working hard to keep moving with the squad.
“I strive to better myself every day and always want to win. I am very happy with my growth and just hoping it would get better.
“Keeping my mentality intact for the big games is very key at this stage because I believe I am ready for the challenges ahead.”
