Blessed Iyamu: Nigerian Defensive Midfielder Joins Rivers United from Kun Khalifat FC

Nigerian midfielder Blessed Iyamu has joined Rivers United from Kun Khalifat FC, strengthening the Port Harcourt club’s options in defensive midfield ahead of the new NPFL campaign.
The 23-year-old, who plays primarily as a holding midfielder, makes the move within the Nigerian top flight after a spell at Kun Khalifat FC, where he arrived earlier in 2026 from Al-Rissala SC. The transfer has been finalised during the 2026–27 season window, with Iyamu now registered as a Rivers United player.
Iyamu, born on 22 January 2003, adds youth and mobility to the centre of the pitch for Rivers United, offering protection in front of the back line and depth in a key area of the squad. His move comes with an indicative market value of €50,000, underlining his growing profile in the domestic game.
The switch marks the latest step in a rapid rise for the Nigerian, who has moved through two clubs in quick succession in 2026 as he establishes himself in the NPFL. After leaving Al-Rissala SC at the start of the calendar year to sign for Kun Khalifat FC, he now joins one of the league’s more prominent sides.
Iyamu’s registration with Rivers United is effective from 23 July 2026, confirming his status as a new addition to the NPFL club’s midfield ranks.
