Bright Osayi-Samuel’s Champions League dreams with Fenerbahce under Jose Mourinho have been derailed as they were knocked out of the qualifiers by Ligue 1 side Lille.

The Turkish side already suffered a 2-1 defeat in the first leg against Lille in France and needed to win the second leg in Turkey to qualify for the Champions League’s group stage.

However, their 1-0 win in the regular time of the second leg was only enough to force extra time.

While Mourinho’s side pressed for the winning goal in the extra time, Jonathan David equalised from the spot to draw 1-1 on the night and win 3-2 on aggregate despite Lille’s Aissa Mandi’s red card in the 109th minute.

Super Eagles right back, Bright Osayi-Samuel started from the bench but was called on in the 63rd minute as his effort was not enough to secure a Champions League spot for the club.
