Chidozie Awaziem: Nigeria-Portugal Defender in Frame for Nantes to Konyaspor Move

Nigeria-Portugal centre-back Chidozie Awaziem of Ligue 2 side FC Nantes is being linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig club Konyaspor. The 29-year-old, who is under contract at Nantes until 30 June 2028, is the subject of growing speculation over a potential switch to Turkiye, with the likelihood of a deal currently rated at 47%.
Awaziem’s situation is attracting attention in part because of his valuation, with the defender currently rated at around €2.5 million. That figure would represent a relatively modest outlay for Konyaspor as they look to reinforce their central defensive options for the new Super Lig campaign.
The centre-back has established himself at Nantes and remains tied to a long-term deal, meaning any move would require agreement between the clubs rather than a cut-price exit. His contractual security gives Nantes leverage in negotiations, but also opens the door to a sale if an offer matches their expectations and the player is keen on a new challenge.
A transfer to Konyaspor would see Awaziem swap French football for a league in which defensive stability is often at a premium, and the Turkish club are understood to be assessing whether the financial package involved aligns with their broader squad plans.
For now, Awaziem remains a Nantes player with two years left on his deal beyond this summer, and any developments will hinge on whether Konyaspor decide to firm up their interest in the coming weeks.
