Cyriel Dessers hints at Rangers stay, says one trophy “not enough”

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers has hinted at his desire to remain at Scottish Premiership club Rangers beyond this season, expressing unfinished business at Ibrox.

The 29-year-old forward joined the Glasgow club two seasons ago from Italian side Cremonese and has since lifted only the Scottish League Cup.

With a potential takeover by a U.S. consortium expected to boost the club’s finances and competitiveness next season, Rangers are eyeing a stronger campaign on both domestic and European fronts.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday’s league match against St Mirren, Dessers underlined his ambition to achieve more with the club.

“I’m very keen. I came here two summers ago with the ambition to fight for trophies, to win trophies,” he said.

“Now I’m sitting here — we had two amazing runs in Europe, but we only won a trophy, and I don’t think that’s enough.”

Dessers’ comments suggest he is eager to remain part of the club’s future as they aim for greater success in the coming seasons.
