Edo Sports Commission pours accolades on Edo Queens on Sheroes Cup triumph

The Edo State Sport Commission (ESSC) chairman, Yusuf Ali has poured accolades on Edo Queens for winning the Sheroes Cup for the second time.
The Benin Arsenal defeated Naija Ratels through an Emem Essien first half goal to emerge champions of the preseason tourney in Abuja and the Olympian, congratulated the team for achieving the feat in style.
The ESSC boss further hailed Edo Queens for performing excellently well by finishing the tournament with an unbeaten record as he urged them to replicate the winning mentality in the upcoming NWFL Premiership.
“Let me congratulate and thank you, girls, for your brilliance. The coaches and staff, we appreciate all of you,” Ali told Edo Queens media.
“We are proud of you for bringing honor home. You have performed excellently, playing five matches and winning all. I urge you to maintain this winning mentality as the league kicks off on November 15 against FC Robo in Benin.”
The late Gabriel Adejor led Edo Queens to win the maiden edition of the Sheroes Cup preseason tournament in Makurdi in 2019.
They reached the last two finals loosing to Robo Queens in 2021 and Delta Queens in 2022 of the competition before winning it for the third consecutive time at the expense of Naija Ratels.
Moses Aduku’s side scoop home the individual award on display with Emem Essien winning the golden boot award with five goals in five matches, Edo Queens captain, Suliat Abideen won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, while Super Falcons goalkeeper, Etim Inyene clinched the golden glove award for best goalkeeper.
The Benin Ladies netted 16 goals and conceded only one goal against Dannaz Ladies.
