Enyimba humble Akwa United in Nigeria Premier Football League preseason friendly

Enyimba reconfirmed their supremacy over Akwa United on Wednesday with a 3-1 friendly win at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The two teams engaged in the friendly to intensify their preparation for the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season.
It was the defending champions, Enyimba who drew the first blood with sixth minute goal from Somiari Alalibo with a well taken free kick.
Osoba Kabir came close to get the equalizer for Akwa United six minutes later with a free kick from a tight angle, but Enyimba captain and goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo timed it well and punches the ball to safety.
Osoba would soon combined well with Cyril Olisema and Uche Collins to initiate another attack for the host but the former’s effort could not threaten Ojo.
Ojo kept the Peoples Elephants in the same with series of saves with Akwa running rampage and desperate to level the scoreline.
George Finidi’s side turned defense to attack and doubled their lead in the 24th minutes. New signing from Lobi Stars Joseph Atule raced forward after Akwa United lose the ball, cut in, took his time and fired a rocket into the net leaving Akwa keeper, Jean Efala’s helpless to keep it out.
It was 3-0 for Enyimba with nine minutes to see out the first half as the visitors capitalized on a defensive let off that saw Chijioke Mbaoma fired home from edge of the box.
The Promise Keepers tried to stage a comeback in the second half haven make series of changes and formation.
The could only muster a goal through Rilwan Sadiq making it a consolation.
Enyimba will be taking much positives from the tune up match as it will afford Finidi an opportunity to assess his teams readiness ahead of CAF Champions League campaign and the new premier league season.
