Genk agree record €10.5m deal to sign Pisa striker Rafiu Durosinmi

Belgian club KRC Genk have agreed a record-breaking €10.5m deal with Italian side Pisa for Nigeria forward Rafiu Durosinmi, in what will be the most lucrative transfer in the Tuscan club’s history.

Transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the agreement is worth €10.5m, with additional performance-related bonuses, while Pisa have also negotiated a 10% sell-on clause on any future move involving the striker.

The fee eclipses Pisa’s previous club-record sale, set when Lorenzo Lucca joined Udinese in 2024, underlining the scale of the investment Genk are making in the 23-year-old Super Eagles attacker.

The move is still subject to the final formalities but is expected to be completed in time for Durosinmi to join up with Genk’s squad ahead of the new campaign.

Rapid rise across Europe

Durosinmi’s transfer caps a whirlwind few months for the Nigerian, who only signed for Pisa from Czech club Viktoria Plzen during the January transfer window.

His spell in Italy has been brief but significant. Despite arriving halfway through the season, he managed 12 Serie A appearances for Pisa’s “Nerazzurri” – commonly referred to as the Black and Blues – scoring one goal and providing one assist.

The Nigerian forward had made his name in the Czech Republic, where his blend of physical presence, work rate and aerial ability attracted interest from clubs in the major European leagues. Pisa moved first in January, and now Genk have stepped in with an offer that the Italian side have deemed too substantial to refuse.

Genk target fresh firepower

Genk, four-time Belgian champions, are looking to strengthen their attack as they prepare for the new season and a push for domestic and European honours. The Limburg club have built a reputation for identifying and developing emerging talent before selling them on to Europe’s top leagues for significant profits.

Durosinmi’s arrival would fit squarely into that strategy, with the added incentive for Pisa of a 10% share of any future sale. For Genk, the Nigerian international is expected to provide competition and depth in the forward line as they rebuild their squad.

For Durosinmi, the move represents another step up in a rapidly progressing career. From the Czech First League with Viktoria Plzen to Serie A with Pisa, and now to one of Belgium’s most prominent clubs, the Super Eagles striker is steadily climbing the European ladder.
