“He was rubbish” — John Obi Mikel slams Bruno Fernandes

Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has blasted Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes for his performance in Manchester United’s 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.

The Nigerian star insisted that Bruno Fernandes should have been substituted, suggesting he was left on by Ten Hag because he was club captain.

The former Super Eagles captain was highly expected to join the Red Devils in 2006 with pictures of him in the shirt already making rounds on the internet but surprisingly, it was Chelsea that unveiled him.

Now an active podcaster, Mikel can not the affairs going on at Old Trafford as their struggle to the start of the season continues.

Although Erik ten Hag’s side created plenty of scoring chances but failed to break the deadlock against a resolute Palace side at Selhurst Park.

“Bruno Fernandes on the pitch was rubbish the whole game,” he said on his ObiOne Podcast.

“Just because he is captain, you don’t have to leave him on the pitch, I know he is one of United’s best players.

“I thought he was very poor on the day, he gave the ball away so many times and Ten Hag should have taken him off.

“It comes down to managers being bold enough to make the right decisions, and he wasn’t.”
