Ikorodu City cruise past Kwara United as Niger Tornadoes are held by Ranchers Bees

Ikorodu City moved to a convincing 2-0 victory over Kwara United as Matchday 8 of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) continued on Saturday.
The hosts needed only two minutes to take control, with Farouk Salami breaking the deadlock almost immediately after kick-off. The early goal gave Ikorodu City a strong start and put Kwara United on the back foot.
Ikechukwu Junior added a second in the 36th minute, giving Ikorodu City a two-goal lead before half-time. Kwara United could not produce a response after the interval, allowing the home side to protect their advantage and collect all three points.
In the other match played on Saturday, Niger Tornadoes and Ranchers Bees played out a goalless draw in Kaduna.
Neither team managed to create the decisive breakthrough during the game, and the points were shared after both sides failed to find the net.
The Matchday 8 programme had begun on Friday with Katsina United securing a 4-2 win against Enyimba in a six-goal contest.
Katsina United took the lead in the sixth minute when Emeka Onyema put the ball into his own net. Mubarak Sani then increased the hosts’ advantage six minutes later to give them a 2-0 lead.
Luis Dadong extended Katsina United’s margin in the 60th minute, but Enyimba responded seven minutes later through Chidera Michael.
Charles Egbe struck in the 75th minute to bring Enyimba within one goal and raise the possibility of a comeback. Katsina United, however, restored their control when Umar Rabiu scored in the 80th minute to complete the victory.
The remaining Matchday 8 fixtures will continue as clubs compete for crucial points in the ongoing NPFL campaign. According to BSNSports.com.ng, three games have now been completed across Friday and Saturday.
