Injury blow to Nigeria as Club Brugge’s Raphael Onyedika joins growing list of casualties
By Dayo Awoniyi
Club Brugge midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, has become the latest addition to the Super Eagles’ injury list after being substituted in the 23rd minute during a Belgian league match at the weekend.
Although the extent of his injury remains unknown, Onyedika joins Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Semi Ajayi, who also sustained injuries last weekend.
Dele-Bashiru suffered an ankle injury in Lazio’s goalless draw against Venezia, while Semi Ajayi was injured in West Brom’s 2-0 win over Oxford United.
These injuries come at an inopportune time for the Super Eagles, as new coach Eric Chelle prepares for crucial World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March 2025.
Onyedika, Dele-Bashiru, and Ajayi are integral parts of the team, and their availability will be crucial in the must-win matches.
