Italiano praises Ndidi as ‘top-class’ after Besiktas opportunity

Besiktas head coach Vincenzo Italiano has described Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi as a “top-class” player after handing him playing time.
Italiano said Ndidi’s involvement was not the result of a technical or tactical decision, but part of his efforts to manage the squad during a demanding period.
“This isn’t a technical or tactical decision. Ndidi deserves to get some playing time too,” Italiano said.
“Salih has played in too many matches this season, and we have a packed schedule ahead of us.”
The Besiktas manager explained that the heavy workload facing the team influenced his decision to give Ndidi an opportunity to feature.
“That’s why I gave Ndidi a chance to wear the shirt,” he added.
Italiano also stressed his belief in the quality of the Nigeria international and said the midfielder deserved minutes on the pitch.
“Ndidi is a top-class and quality player. I thought he needed to get some minutes today. I believe he’ll do good things,” he said.
