Kayode Olanrewaju Eyes Ukrainian Double as Shakhtar Donetsk Targets League Title

Nigerian forward Kayode Olanrewaju is setting his sights on adding the Ukrainian Premier League title to Shakhtar Donetsk’s recent Ukrainian Cup triumph. The Miners secured the Ukrainian Cup with a convincing 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Dynamo Kiev at the Dnipro Arena last Wednesday. With only two games remaining in the Ukrainian Premier League play-offs, Shakhtar Donetsk currently leads the table with a five-point margin over their closest rivals, Dynamo Kiev.

Speaking about their upcoming challenge, Olanrewaju expressed confidence in their ability to secure the league title, saying, “We have another title to win, and we are not resting on our oars ahead of Sunday’s game against Veres.”

The 25-year-old forward, who is on loan from English champions Manchester City, emphasized that joining Shakhtar Donetsk in January has proven to be a fruitful decision, especially after a challenging stint with Spanish La Liga side Girona.

Reflecting on his move, Olanrewaju stated, “It has turned out to be a good move, and I’m happy with it. The future will sort itself.”

Since joining Shakhtar Donetsk, Olanrewaju has made a significant impact, scoring three goals in five appearances across all competitions. As the team gears up for the final push in the league, Olanrewaju remains a key figure in their quest for a double triumph in the Ukrainian football scene.
