Kayode Secures Ukrainian Title with Shakhtar, Simon Scores for Gent

Nigerian forward Olanrewaju Kayode played a role in Shakhtar Donetsk’s Ukrainian league triumph as they secured the title after defeating Veres Rivne in their penultimate game of the season on Sunday. Kayode, on loan from Manchester City since January, contributed to Shakhtar’s success, adding the league title to the Ukrainian Cup they won last week with a 2-0 victory against Dynamo Kyiv. The win marked Shakhtar’s 11th Ukrainian league title.

In the Belgian Championship play-offs, Moses Simon made a significant impact for Gent, scoring the solitary goal in their 1-0 home win against Anderlecht. Simon’s goal came in the 66th minute, securing three crucial points for Gent. On the opposing side, Henry Onyekuru spent the entire match on the bench. The victory places Gent in fourth position with 11 points in the six-team Championship play-offs, positioning them for potential qualification in the Europa League play-offs.

In the Scottish Premiership’s final day, Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose featured for Hibernian in a thrilling 5-5 home draw against 10-man Rangers. Although Ambrose was replaced with 20 minutes remaining, Hibernian finished fourth on 67 points in the final league table, narrowly missing out on Europa League qualification, which Rangers secured. The draw provided an entertaining conclusion to the Scottish Premiership season.
