Mahrez on Kadisya radar after Al Ahli exit as Saudi club weigh free transfer move

Riyad Mahrez could remain in Saudi Arabia next season, with newly interested Al Qadsiah exploring a free transfer for the Algeria star following his recent departure from Al Ahli.

According to Qatari newspaper Al Sharq, citing a report from Algerian channel “Algeria International”, Al Qadsiah’s hierarchy have initiated contact to clarify Mahrez’s contractual situation in the current transfer window after the end of his spell with the Jeddah club.

The Eastern Province side are understood to be assessing the legal framework around a potential deal and sounding out conditions before deciding whether to submit a formal offer, which would depend heavily on their financial capacity to sustain such a signing.

Al Qadsiah target experience on right flank

Al Qadsiah have reportedly identified the former Algeria captain as a leading candidate to strengthen the right-wing position, viewing his profile as a priority addition.

The club’s management are said to be attracted by Mahrez’s extensive top-level experience and his reputation for influencing matches, both during a glittering European career and more recently in the Saudi Pro League.

Mahrez, 35, previously played a central role in Leicester City’s remarkable Premier League title triumph before going on to win multiple trophies with Manchester City, including domestic league and cup honours as well as European success.

He then moved to Al Ahli, where he featured in the Saudi Pro League – currently marketed as the Roshn Saudi League – adding further high-profile exposure to his already distinguished career.

Despite interest from Al Qadsiah, Mahrez’s next destination remains unresolved.

The winger is currently studying several expected offers, with his camp evaluating available options before making a decision on where he will play next.
