Michael Olise: Bayern Munich ‘not selling’ winger despite Real Madrid interest reports

Bayern Munich have ruled out selling Michael Olise this summer and are preparing to make him one of the club’s top earners, despite reports in France that the winger wants to join Real Madrid.

Senior figures at the German champions met on Friday to discuss the France international’s future after newspaper L’Equipe claimed Olise had informed team-mates during the 2026 World Cup that he wished to move to the Spanish giants.

But Bayern sources, speaking via Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, insist the club’s position is unanimous at board level: Olise is not on the market and the Bundesliga side do not believe they are under pressure from any other party.

Bayern board united and ‘doors closed’

“Bayern Munich are still dealing calmly with the exclusive report published by L’Equipe,” Plettenberg wrote.

He added that the Bayern hierarchy had reviewed their stance again on Friday and that it “received full approval from all decision-makers, including Uli Hoeneß”.

The club’s position, he reported, is clear: Michael Olise is not for sale, and Bayern do not consider themselves to be in a situation where anyone can force their hand.

Plettenberg continued: “All doors are still closed at this stage, and Bayern Munich want to extend Olise’s contract, as well as prepare to make him one of the three highest-paid players at the club.”

Olise’s current deal runs until 2029 and, according to the report, does not contain any clauses allowing him to leave.

Real Madrid future ‘not a secret’ – but not this summer

Inside Bayern, there is an acceptance that Real Madrid could be an option for Olise later in his career.

“Bayern Munich are fully aware that Real Madrid may become an option for Olise in the future, and this is not a secret,” Plettenberg wrote.

However, for now the plan in Munich is to rely on the 22-year-old “100%” next season, with no expectation that he will depart in the current transfer window.

The club believe they are in a strong contractual position and see Olise as central to their sporting project in the coming years.

Perez assurances underpin Bayern confidence

Bayern’s firm stance is underpinned by two key factors, according to Plettenberg.

“First, the confirmation of Florentino Perez, along with the official statement issued by Real,” he said.

He reported that the Real Madrid president has personally assured Bayern’s leadership that the European champions are not trying to sign Olise this summer and “do not intend to submit any offer for him at the moment”.

“Bayern trust Perez’s assurances 100%, based on the exceptional relationship between the two clubs,” Plettenberg added.

Relations between Bayern and Real have long been considered among the strongest between European heavyweights, and the German side see those ties as a guarantee against an unexpected Madrid bid in this window.

Messages from Olise camp back club stance

The second pillar of Bayern’s confidence lies in direct communications from the player and his entourage.

“Second… the messages that Bayern Munich received directly from Olise and his representative during the World Cup, in which both parties confirmed that they did not intend to leave and wanted to continue with the club,” Plettenberg said.

He stressed that “until today, neither Olise nor his representative has informed Bayern Munich’s management of any desire to leave the club during the current summer transfer period”.

That stance stands in contrast to the account published by L’Equipe but has left Bayern feeling secure that, as things stand, their star winger will remain at the Allianz Arena beyond this summer – and potentially on an improved, long-term deal.
