Mohammed Bashir hopes Nasarawa win over Akwa United marks turning point

Coach Mohammed Bashir of Nasarawa United believes the club’s 2-0 victory over Akwa United could serve as a turning point in their season, providing the momentum needed to secure more wins and avoid relegation.
The Solid Miners triumphed over Akwa United in Matchday 32 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last Sunday, with goals that helped the team climb out of the relegation zone.
Bashir praised his players for their resilience, describing the win as a positive response to their recent defeat against Kwara United.
“Akwa United are a good side. They are former league champions, and we respect them for that,” Bashir said in an interview with Nasarawa United media.
“However, we needed the points today more than they did, even though we are both battling to avoid relegation.”
The coach noted that the victory was an important turnaround for the team, who had faced disappointment after a loss to Kwara United in their previous outing.
“This is a great turnaround for us after the disappointing away loss to Kwara United,” Bashir continued.
“We are so happy that we are back in contention to stabilize in the league, and we hope to continue with this great feat, beginning with our next home game against Plateau United this weekend.”
With this crucial win, Nasarawa United will aim to build on their newfound confidence as they look to improve their standing in the NPFL.
