Moses Aduku applauds Heartland Queens despite Edo Queens’ win over the host

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Despite a 2-1 win over Heartland Queens in their second league match of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership at the Dan Anyiam Stadium on Wednesday, the head coach of Edo Queens, Moses Aduku says his opponents gave their all.

A brace from Goodness Osigwe lifted the Benin City-based side to consecutive victories after two league games.

While admitting the toughness of the encounter, Aduku asserted that his team’s continental experience came into play.

“I thank God for the victory but it wasn’t an easy match,” Aduku said after the game.

“Honestly my girls played below expectations because what they did in the first match was not what I saw today.

“Heartland girls gave their all despite the fact they lost. They are a good side and are going somewhere as a team.”

With a perfect record so far, Aduku is focussing on their next game against their former coach, Wemimo Mathew’s Remo Stars Ladies, next week.

“I expected our experience on the continent to show but the Heartland girls came out. Any team playing against Edo Queens now will give their all but experience also played out,” He added.

“One game at a time. We are done with this and will go back to prepare for Remo Stars Ladies and that is our next target.”

Edo Queens and Remo Stars Ladies have the perfect start to the league campaign and will face off in the top-of-the-table clash next Wednesday.
