NFF takes drastic measure, expels two referees for impersonation

By Dayo Awoniyi
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expelled two referees, Peter Emmanuel Edeoro and Temitope Fadojuto, from officiating in the league due to a serious case of impersonation.
The incident was uncovered after an investigation revealed that Temitope Fadojuto impersonated Peter Emmanuel Edeoro during a National League (NNL) match between Inter Lagos FC and Crown FC.
The match in question was a rescheduled Matchday 3 fixture. Originally, Peter Emmanuel Edeoro was appointed as Assistant Referee 2 for the game. However, he opted to officiate in a different Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) match and assigned Fadojuto to impersonate him for the NNL fixture.
According to a letter from the NFF’s Refereeing Development Unit, signed by Mohammed Ameenu, the actions of both referees were deemed a serious violation of the league’s integrity. As a result, both referees have been expelled from the league.
The NFF has made it clear that this decision is meant to emphasize the importance of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in football officiating. This action serves as a warning to all referees and officials in the league to adhere strictly to ethical conduct.
