NFF to Begin CAF B-License Refresher Course for Coaches in Abuja

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finalized arrangements to conduct a six-day CAF B-License refresher course for Nigerian coaches, scheduled to begin on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at the NFF/FIFA Goal Project in Abuja.

Speaking on Friday, NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen explained that the programme is aimed at updating and revalidating coaches who already hold the CAF B-License so they can progress toward the CAF A-License pathway.

He noted that the federation had made significant progress in addressing coaching certification levels across the country, including the C and D Licenses, and is now focusing on refreshing B-License holders.

According to him, the high number of participants necessitated splitting the course into two manageable batches of 25 coaches each to ensure effective delivery and learning. The first batch will run from 21–23 June, while the second will follow from 23–25 June 2026.

Eguavoen added that, after the refresher programme, the NFF will select qualified coaches for the next CAF A-License course, which will be limited to 25 participants.

On facilitation, he confirmed that no external instructors would be invited, as certified local coach educators will handle the training. These include the Head of Coaching Education, Dr. Terry Eguaoje, alongside other FIFA- and CAF-certified educators such as Monday Odigie and Edema Fuludu, as well as NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

Eguavoen emphasized that the in-house expertise is sufficient to deliver the programme effectively.

Dr. Terry Eguaoje also stated that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Football Federation to ensure Nigerian coaches remain up to date with modern coaching methods and CAF certification standards. He added that successful participants will have their CAF B diplomas renewed and become eligible for the upcoming CAF A-License course expected to commence in August 2026.
