Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa reveals political aspirations post-retirement

Nigeria international Ahmed Musa has shared his plans to venture into politics after hanging up his boots.

The 32-year-old winger opened up about his ambitions to take on leadership roles and help shape the future of the country in an interview with Newstelegraph.

Musa, who has captained the Super Eagles for several years, believes his experiences on and off the field have prepared him for the demands of politics.

Known for his philanthropic efforts and his strong leadership qualities as a footballer, the former Leicester City player expressed his desire to serve Nigeria in a new capacity once his playing days are over.

“Yeah, definitely,” Musa said when asked about his potential entry into politics. “As a young person nowadays, you can see most of the politicians are almost going to the end of their peak. So if we, the young ones, don’t take their seats, who is going to lead the country?”

The Super Eagles star emphasized the importance of youth participation in leadership, stating that the younger generation must step up to ensure the country’s future is in capable hands.

“I think we, the young ones, have to start from somewhere. So let’s see what can happen after my career. I will see if I’m going to go into politics or not,” Musa added.

His fans, who have affectionately dubbed him “Governor” for his leadership on and off the pitch, may soon see their favorite player transition into a new role—this time as a political figure aiming to make a difference in the lives of Nigerians.
