The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly eyeing French football strategist Herve Renard as the potential new head coach for the Super Eagles.

Renard, who currently manages the France Women’s team gearing up for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, has drawn attention from the NFF, according to recent reports.

It’s understood that discussions have been initiated to bring the former Zambia coach on board to lead Nigeria’s national football team.

The Frenchman’s tenure with the France Women’s team is expected to conclude at the conclusion of the Olympics, as per reports from L’Equipe.

Renard himself has confirmed that he has informed the France Football Federation (FFF) about his intentions to explore new coaching opportunities.

Acknowledging the challenges associated with the role, Renard hinted at his aspirations for the 2026 World Cup in men’s football, expressing his desire to lead a men’s team in the prestigious tournament for the third time.

These personal motivations hint at Renard’s openness to taking up a new coaching role following his stint with the France Women’s team.

Renard’s impressive track record as a coach makes him an attractive prospect for several national teams.

Apart from Nigeria, other countries reportedly interested in securing his services include Poland, South Korea, Cameroon, and Morocco.

These nations are keeping a close watch on Renard’s situation, particularly in light of potential vacancies in their coaching positions.

With Renard’s wealth of experience and proven success at both the club and international levels, his potential appointment could signal a new era for the Super Eagles as they seek to achieve their footballing goals on the global stage.
