Nigeria National League board confirms kickoff date for new season

The new season for the Nigeria National League, has been fixed to kickoff in September, NigeriaFootball reports.
Chairman of the NNL board, George Aluo gave the hint in Kano on the final day of the league’s relegation playoffs.
The 2022–23 NNL season was played in an abridged league format, with Heartland winning the title in the Championship playoffs.
NigeriaFootball futher scooped that the stakeholders of the league are expected to meet later this month to decide on type of format to use in the coming season.
“We congratulate the teams that maintained their stay in the NNL,” Aluo told newsmen at the Mahaha Sports Complex.
“We hope to meet again later in September when the league commences. We say our byes to the relegated teams for better luck next time.”
Sokoto United, Adamawa United, Smart City and Ikorodu City retained their status in the second tier division, while Edel FC, FWC FC, ABS Ilorin FC and Henserd FC dropped to the Nationwide League One, NLO.
