In a remarkable turn of events, Nigerian striker Olanrewaju Kehinde is expressing his keen interest in continuing his journey with Ankaragucu, the recently promoted Turkish Super Lig side. Kehinde played a pivotal role in securing promotion for the club, which finished second in the Turkish second division table, just seven points adrift of Rizespor.
Despite facing Dermispor in their final league match on Monday, Ankaragucu has already amassed an impressive 62 points from 33 games, even with one match in hand. Kehinde, who showcased his prowess by netting seven goals and contributing six assists in 23 appearances this season, is eager to build on his stellar performance in the upcoming top-flight season.
In an exclusive interview with CSN, the 24-year-old expressed his excitement about the upcoming Turkish Super Lig campaign, stating, “It’s going to be my first season in the Turkish Super League, and I think it’s the place that Ankaragucu deserves, that the fans deserve as well. I am looking forward to the next season in the Super League with great expectations, and I believe we will do well there.”
However, Kehinde acknowledges the unpredictable nature of football, admitting, “But you never can tell what can happen if a big offer is made.”
With one year remaining on his current contract with Ankaragucu, Kehinde is also optimistic that the club’s elevated status could enhance his chances of representing Nigeria on the international stage. “Now I will be playing in the top division with several Super Eagles players. So, I could be monitored well, and who knows? I could get my chance like others. I believe in my qualities any day, but I will bide my time.”
