Ogu Revels in Hapoel Be'er Sheva's Commanding Victory, Nears Israeli League Triumph

In a stunning display of prowess at the Teddi Malicha Stadium, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, led by midfielder John Ogu, emerged victorious over title rivals Beitar Jerusalem in a decisive encounter on Saturday. The 4-1 triumph, orchestrated by Barak Bakhar’s men, propels them one step closer to clinching the coveted Israeli league title.

The pendulum initially swung in Beitar Jerusalem’s favor as Ben Ezra notched a goal in the 22nd minute, putting the hosts in the lead. However, the resilient visitors orchestrated a spectacular second-half comeback. Hatem El Hamed swiftly equalized for Hapoel Be’er Sheva just two minutes into the half, followed by Hanan Maman’s pivotal goal, granting them the lead five minutes later.

The decisive turning point came with Ben Sahar’s clinical strike in the 64th minute, effectively securing the match in favor of the visiting team. Anthony Nwakaeme, Ogu’s international compatriot, put the exclamation mark on the victory with a goal 10 minutes later, marking his 10th league goal of the season in 27 appearances.

Despite receiving a yellow card seven minutes from time, Ogu, who has made 27 league appearances this season and scored three times, contributed significantly to Be’er Sheva’s stellar performance. The win solidifies their position at the summit of the league table, boasting 74 points from 33 matches, while Beitar Jerusalem trails with 66 points from an equal number of games. As Hapoel Be’er Sheva inches closer to the Israeli league title, Ogu and his teammates savor the taste of triumph, anticipating a celebration on the horizon.
