NNL: Gombe United unveils Bala Nikyu as Head Coach

Gombe United has unveiled Bala Nkiyu as their new head coach ahead of the coming Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The North Estern team, which dropped from the country’s topflight at the end of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign, has appointed the former Nasarawa United coach to guide the club back to the first division.
He has signed a one-year contract with the Northern side ahead of the 2024/2025 season, with preparation expected to hit the ground running.
“I know other teams have started their preparations but it is not about how far you go. It is about how well you perform,” the coach said.
The team had a bad run of form in the NPFL last season with seven losses in their last seven games in all competitions.
The run ensured their drop to the second-tier league with 25 points after 38 games.
They dropped to the NNL alongside Doma United and Sporting Lagos while Heartland retained their slot despite the bottom four finish in place of Beyond Limits.
