NPFL: Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu hopes to bounce back after loss at Remo Stars
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
The head coach of Rangers International FC, Fidelis Ilechukwu lauded his players despite a 2-1 loss to Remo Stars in the clash of the top two teams in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season.
The former Plateau gaffer led the Enugu-based to the league title at the end of the 2023/2024 season, but the team is having a slow start with four points from three games so far.
A 0-0 draw with El-Kanemi Warriors was followed by a 1-0 win against Ikorodu City FC in Lagos before Sunday’s loss to the Sky Blue Stars.
He hoped his team would recover from the defeat and bounce back stronger.
“The two matches we played after scouting the continental have shown that there is hope for our aspirations this season,” Ilechukwu said after the match.
“It was a good game. I think we have started coming up.
“I am happy with the outcome of the game. I love the way my players approached the game today despite the result.
“The weak links we have noticed will be worked upon, and hopefully, we shall bounce back on a positive note.”
Rangers will face Bayelsa United in a rescheduled 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
