Nasarawa United’s head coach, Kabir Dogo, expressed immense pride in his players after they secured their first victory of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, edging out Ikorodu City 2-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
Goals from Anas Yusuf and Kabir Balogun gave Nasarawa the lead, with ThankGod Chiaka’s strike for Ikorodu serving as a mere consolation.
Dogo praised his team’s character and resilience, highlighting their collective effort in achieving this crucial win.
“We showed character and resilience to secure this first win of the season.
“The energy was electric as every member of the team contributed to this win, and we can’t wait to build on this momentum,” he said.
With this victory, Nasarawa United moved into the top 10 of the league standings, accumulating five points, while Ikorodu City remains at the bottom with just one point from four matches.
Nasarawa’s next challenge will be against Bayelsa United on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Lafia City Stadium.
