NPFL: Tornadoes coach Majin Mohammed grateful after home draw with Insurance

Despite failing to secure a win in their first two home games, Niger Tornadoes head coach Majin Mohammed is optimistic about his players’ performance.
The Ikon Allah Boys were held to a 1-1 draw by Bendel Insurance in last weekend’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.
In a competitive encounter, Jonas Emmanuel and Vincent Okeke scored for their respective teams in the second half.
Tornadoes, who played much of the match with ten players, displayed resilience and created several chances, but ultimately could not hold onto their goal.
“We appreciate God for a point; it’s better than nothing,” Mohammed said after the match.
“We knew it was going to be very hard, especially since the visitors were coming off their 17-year home unbeaten record that we broke last season.”
He acknowledged that an early red card disrupted their game plan but praised his team’s effort: “It was a good game despite playing with a man down. The boys gave a good account of themselves.”
Mohammed also commended the level of officiating in the NPFL, stating, “Above all, the league is improving; the referees are doing well, which is why teams are picking points away from home. We will also go out and hunt for more points.”
Niger Tornadoes currently sit in third place on the league table with eight points after four matches. “We are not under any form of pressure. Whatever we lose here, God always complements it for us when we go away,” he added, looking ahead to future fixtures.
