By Monsurah Olatunji
Following Nigeria’s defeat to Brazil in their opening game of the 2024 Olympic Games, Michelle Alozie has been scapegoated by fans for having a poor game.
The Super Falcons fell to a 1-0 defeat against Seleção Samba Queens in their return to the Olympics since Beijing 2008.
Randy Waldrum-led team started brightly and showed flashes of promise, in patches, particularly in the final third but unable to utilise their chances.
However, Brazil fans had cause to jubilate when veteran forward Marta found Gabi Nunes in the box, who blazed her effort past Chiamaka Nnadozie to give the South Americans the lead in the 37th minute and maintained the victory till the very end.
Following the disappointing result, fans took to social media to react, singling out Michelle Alozie who happened to be fans’ favourite for her beauty.
“They were just doing tiktok not serious, especially that Alozie,” X user caleb_bawi posted.
“See the Alozie wey them dey hype. Them go dey do TikTok instead make them train,” OxDaves posted.
Another wrote: “Na only TikTok Alozie sabi. To play ball she no sabi.”
“Alozie is lost in the game,” another commented.
While one aimed a subtle dig at her beauty; “Has Jelly Beaut made any successful pass upfront so far?” referencing her jittery performance on the night.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old endured a mixed outing on the night, having initially struggled to influence the game before suffering a knock that almost saw her quit the game.
