Phil Foden: Manchester City star signs new deal to stay at Etihad until 2030

Phil Foden has committed his long-term future to Manchester City by signing a new four-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030, the club has confirmed.

The England international, 26, extends a remarkable journey that began when he joined City’s academy at the age of nine and has since developed into one of the most decorated careers in the club’s history.

In a statement on their official website, Manchester City said: “Phil Foden has signed a new four-year deal that keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.”

The club added: “The 26-year-old, a lifelong Manchester City fan, will continue his association with the club that began when he joined our Academy as a nine-year-old.”

“Since making his first-team debut under Pep Guardiola in 2017, he has become one of the most decorated players in our history,” City said.

Trophy-laden career already among City’s greatest

Foden’s new deal comes on the back of an extraordinary period of success. He has won 20 major trophies with Manchester City, including:

In May 2026, he became only the sixth player to register 100 goal contributions in the Premier League for Manchester City and one of just 20 players ever to score 100 goals for the club in its 132-year history.

Foden stressed his gratitude to those around him at the Etihad as he enters the next phase of his career.

He added: “I can only thank the club, staff, my teammates and the fans who continue to put their trust in me and believe that I will give my best for City, and I hope I can repay you for many years to come.”

Foden also highlighted his enthusiasm about working again with Enzo, a key backroom figure during one of City’s most successful seasons.

He said: “I’m excited to work with Enzo again. He was amazing during the Treble-winning season – someone all the players respect and love working with. His return here is exciting.”

Looking ahead, Foden believes he has grown significantly as a player and is ready to embrace greater responsibility as several senior figures from earlier in his career move on.

He concluded: “Personally, I know I’ve improved a lot through working with our coaches and our world-class team, and with many of the legends who were here when I started my career having now left, I’m excited for the next phase of my journey at this great club.”
