Leicester City’s manager, Claude Puel, has officially ruled out the return of Wilfred Ndidi for the upcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal on Wednesday. Ndidi, who suffered a hamstring injury during Leicester City’s 5-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, had commenced light training on Monday. However, Puel has confirmed that the 21-year-old midfielder will not be fit enough to feature in the crucial fixture.
Ndidi is just one of the eight senior Leicester players currently sidelined due to injury. Puel addressed the media during his pre-match interview on Monday, stating, “We are sure that Ndidi, James, Amartey, Huth are not available, then after, other players, I don’t know.”
The Leicester City manager expressed uncertainty about the availability of other players as well, saying, “I don’t know for Okazaki, I don’t know about Simpson. We will see with Schmeichel. We will see with Diabate, he was ill today (Monday). Dragovic, we will see tomorrow (Tuesday) with his shoulder. I’m sorry I cannot give you more information about my team.”
Ndidi has been an integral part of Leicester City’s campaign this season, making 33 appearances in the English Premier League and providing four assists. However, his absence, along with the team’s recent struggles, has contributed to their current ninth-place position in the EPL table, with 44 points from 36 games.
Leicester City will be aiming to end their winless streak of five league games as they face Arsenal in a crucial encounter on Wednesday. Despite the absence of several key players, Puel will be looking to rally his team and secure a positive result against a formidable opponent.
