Real Madrid target Bayern star Michael Olise after World Cup heroics as Mbappe pushes deal

Real Madrid are accelerating plans to sign Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise after his standout performances at the 2026 World Cup, with France captain Kylian Mbappe playing a key role in trying to lure him to the Bernabeu.
The 24-year-old, born in London and now a fully fledged France international, was one of the stars of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico, finishing with a competition‐high seven assists. That followed an outstanding club season with Bayern, where he scored 22 goals and provided 31 assists in 52 matches.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Olise has a “strong desire” to join Real Madrid this summer and is leaning towards leaving Bavaria despite being under contract with Bayern until June 2029.
Real rebuild gathers pace
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is overseeing an aggressive recruitment drive after the club missed out on major trophies in each of the past two seasons.
Olise, who primarily operates as a right winger, has impressed the Madrid hierarchy with both his end product and his versatility in attack and playmaking. His World Cup displays have apparently convinced the Spanish giants to move quickly in an attempt to bring him to La Liga.
The club view Olise as a player who can complement their existing attacking talents and help return the “Los Blancos” to the top of European and domestic football.
Mbappe’s influence behind the scenes
Mbappe, who has already agreed to join Real Madrid, is reported to have been instrumental in the push to land his international team‐mate.
Foot Mercato reports that Olise is eager to reunite in Madrid with Mbappe and midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, both of whom he played alongside for France at the 2026 World Cup.
German newspaper Bild adds that Olise has openly shared his wish to move to Real Madrid with his France team‐mates. During the tournament, Mbappe is said to have made it a personal mission to convince his friend to commit to the Spanish club.
His pitch went beyond footballing matters. Mbappe reportedly reassured Olise about Real Madrid’s determination to sign him and described life in the Spanish capital, “from the restaurants to the climate”, in a bid to sell both the project and the lifestyle.
The same reports suggest that Mbappe has already informed Perez that Olise has responded positively to the prospect of a transfer.
Doubts over Bayern’s European prospects
Despite his impressive season in Munich, Olise is understood to harbour doubts about Bayern’s ability to reclaim the Champions League in the coming years.
The winger reportedly believes he can achieve more on the European stage with Real Madrid, the continent’s most successful club in the competition.
However, before making a final decision, Olise plans to hold talks with Bayern’s management. He is expected to seek clarity on how the German champions intend to remain competitive in the Champions League and what their sporting project will look like over the next few seasons.
That discussion is likely to be decisive in determining whether Olise continues his career in Bavaria or pushes for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Crucial weeks ahead
With Olise’s contract running until 2029, any move would require Real Madrid to negotiate a substantial fee with Bayern Munich.
But with the player increasingly open to a transfer, Mbappe actively encouraging him, and Real Madrid keen to rebuild around a new generation of attacking stars, the coming weeks could prove pivotal in shaping both Olise’s future and Madrid’s next era.
