Sevilla omission fuels transfer talk around Nigeria winger Chidera Ejuke

Sevilla have left Chidera Ejuke out of their squad for a pre-season training camp in the Netherlands, intensifying speculation that the Super Eagles winger is close to leaving the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Manager Luis Garcia Plaza has selected 28 players for the trip, which runs from 30 July to 7 August, as confirmed on the club’s official website. Ejuke is not among them, with Sevilla understood to be in ongoing talks over a potential exit during the current transfer window.

The decision to exclude the Nigerian forward is being interpreted within the club as a clear indication that his future likely lies away from Seville. Sevilla are keen to resolve the situation before the squad returns from their Dutch base.

Ejuke joined Sevilla on a free transfer after his spell with Russian side CSKA Moscow and quickly caught the eye with his pace, direct dribbling and attacking threat from wide areas.

Injuries and fierce competition for places, however, prevented him from maintaining a consistent run in the side. As a result, he is now viewed as one of the more marketable members of the squad at a time when the club are attempting to refresh their options.

At 28, the winger is seen internally as one of the few players who could command a transfer fee, particularly significant given that Sevilla did not pay a fee to secure his services.
