Victor Osimhen says fearless mindset makes him one of the world’s best strikers

Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen says his refusal to fear difficult situations is a key reason he believes he belongs among the world’s leading strikers.
The Nigeria international made the comments after scoring against former club Lille in the UEFA Champions League and being named Man of the Match.
Osimhen struck in the 61st minute to extend Galatasaray’s advantage, registering his first goal in this season’s competition. He did not celebrate the goal out of respect for Lille, where he previously played.
The performance added to the 27-year-old’s reputation as a forward capable of making a decisive impact on the European stage.
“I come from a place where I’m not afraid. I don’t fear difficulties,” Osimhen said.
His comments reflect the confidence and resilience that have shaped his career since he established himself in European football. The striker has also played for Napoli, as well as Lille and Galatasaray, and has continued to show an ability to perform under pressure.
Osimhen also highlighted his belief in his own pace, technique and finishing.
“No one can tell me how to sprint, how to play, how to score goals I already do these things, and that’s why I’m one of the world’s best strikers,” he said.
The Nigerian’s latest Champions League display gave substance to those claims, with his goal and all-round contribution earning him the match award.
Osimhen’s confidence has been a consistent feature of his approach, but he suggested it is rooted in the work he has already done on the pitch rather than words alone. His performance against Lille offered another example of the qualities he believes place him among the elite forwards in world football.
The result also marked another significant moment in Osimhen’s European career and underlined his importance to Galatasaray’s attacking ambitions.
His return to face Lille carried an added personal dimension because of his previous spell with the French club. However, he kept his response measured after scoring, choosing not to celebrate while still influencing the match in a decisive way.
For Osimhen, the display provided a further opportunity to demonstrate the fearless mentality he regards as central to his identity as a footballer.
