Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, couldn’t help but boast about the Super Eagles’ dominant performance in their 2-0 victory over Rwanda in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, calling the trip a “sightseeing” experience.
The Super Eagles earned their first win of the campaign on Friday, thanks to Victor Osimhen’s first-half brace at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
The result propelled Nigeria to six points from five matches, moving them just one point behind Rwanda in Group C.
For Nwabali, the match was a relatively calm affair, with the Chippa United goalkeeper rarely tested as Nigeria controlled the game from the opening whistle.
With little to do in goal, the Super Eagles’ defense allowed Nwabali to enjoy the victory without facing significant pressure, earning him his eighth clean sheet in 18 international appearances.
After the match, Nwabali shared his joy on social media, celebrating both the team’s win and his clean sheet, humorously referring to the game as a “sightseeing” trip due to the minimal action he faced between the sticks.
“Solid win and clean sheet. We went for sightseeing 😆. Great team spirit!!! 🦅 🇳🇬”
The goalkeeper’s lighthearted comment reflects the team’s strong performance and confidence in the qualifiers, as they look to build on their victory ahead of the crucial match against Zimbabwe in Uyo.
