William Troost-Ekong scored his first goal for Salernitana to seal a dramatic late win over Udinese in Italian Serie A.
The Super Eagles assistant captain joined Salernitana on loan from Watford in January and has featured only times for the club starting only four of them.
The home side had trailed by two goals inside the first half-hour when Ilija Nestorovski and Marvin Zeegeler scored to give Udinese a healthy lead.
Salernitana fought back with goals from Grigoris Kastanos and Antonio Candreva dragging them back into the tie.
When Udinese thought they would be sharing the point, their former player, Troost-Ekong hammered the ball into the back of the next with the last kick of the game in the 96th minute.
The 29-year-old had previously featured in 65 games across two seasons for Udinese without managing to score a single goal.
The Nigerian defender became fans’ favorite as he send them into raptures completing a sensational comeback.
“These are the emotions I dreamt of experiencing as a young boy scoring a last minute winner,” he tweeted on his official page.
Although, the result has no impact on their fate as Salernitana are already safe from the threat of relegation.
