By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Head coach of South Africa’s senior men’s national team, Hugo Broos, has announced his final 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

The squad includes three goalkeepers, eight defenders, four midfielders, and eight forwards.

Notable players in the roster are Ronwen Williams, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations best goalkeeper, defenders Mothobi Mvala and Grant Kekana, midfielders Teboho Mokoena and Jayden Adams, and forwards Themba Zwane and Percy Tau.

The Bafana Bafana will first clash with the Super Eagles on June 7, 2024, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Following this, they will host Zimbabwe in South Africa on June 11. The last encounter between Nigeria and South Africa ended in a 1-1 draw in the semi-final of the 2023 AFCON, with Nigeria advancing on penalties.

This upcoming qualifier will be a significant match-up between the three-time African champions, Nigeria, and the 1996 AFCON winners, South Africa.
