Taiwo Awoniyi kept his scoring form in shape with another goal to help Nottimgham Forest beat West Ham United 2-0 in the English Premier League clash on Sunday.
The Super Eagles’ striker had returned from a long layoff injury opened the score sheet for the Tricky Trees on the stroke of half time putting away from Aguerd before slotting it past Areola for his sixth goal of the season.
Callum Hudson Odoi doubled the lead for the hosts with the late goal to dent West Ham’s hope of comeback.
The hosts were the better side for most part of the game as they could have gone ahead in the opening 15th minutes but Anthony Elangs had his shot parried wide by Alphonse Areola.
Awoniyi could have also had Forest in front with a glancing header but missed the target.
West Ham’s best chance came in the second half from Maxwell Cornet which was not dealt with.
The Super Eagles star has now scored six goals and provided two assists in 14 appearances this season despite battling a groin injury layoff.
The win, however took Forest five points off clear the drop zone, while the woes continue for the Hammers who have lost their consecutive games this term.
