The South African senior men’s national team arrived in Uyo, the venue of Friday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Nigeria, a day before the match after arriving in the country on Wednesday.

Bafana Bafana stayed the night in Port Harcourt on Wednesday after arriving in Nigeria. The team only flew into Uyo on Thursday morning.

Despite the challenges, the head coach of the 1996 African champions, Hugo Broos is confident his team can shrug off the difficulties and get the desired result on Friday.

“We had an awful journey yesterday to Nigeria but I think the motivation is so high in this group that it will not be a problem for tomorrow,” Broos said during a chat with the team Media Officer, Romy Titus ahead of Thursday’s training in Uyo.

“They can sleep tonight and rest. I think we will be ready for tomorrow.”

The team made some changes to injured players likewise the Super Eagles which will miss Africa Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen.

“There are little few players with injuries and physical problems and as we have a good medical staff, they all trained today and on Tuesday. I don’t think they will be a problem for tomorrow.” He continued.

“We have a very fantastic group even for new players. It’s like they are always with us. For me, it is nice to see them in training and see those guys play in their clubs. Three good guys and I think we made a good choice not only for their football quality but also for human qualities.

“I don’t look so much at the opponents. Sure we have to inform the players about them. For me, the most important thing is that we are playing.” He concluded.
