Nigeria Forward Ifeoma Onumonu has signed with French top-flight side Montpellier for the 2024/2025 season.

Onumonu joins Montpellier from the Utah Royals of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She will wear jersey number 11 for the French D1 Arkema team.

The Utah Royals released Onumonu last week after she played just five games with the team. Prior to her time at Utah Royals, she spent four seasons with Gotham FC from 2020 to 2023 and had previous stints with the Boston Breakers, Portland Thorns, and Seattle Reign in the NWSL.

The Super Falcons forward was a key player for Nigeria in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, helping the team qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was also part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where the nine-time African champions reached the Round of 16.

Recently, Onumonu represented Nigeria at the women’s football tournament in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
