Victor Osimhen opens goal account for Galatasaray in stalemate against Kasimpasa

Reigning African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen registered his first goals in the colours of Galatasaray in their 3-3 Super Lig draw against Kasimpasa on Saturday.

The Super Eagles’ forward who joined the Turkish club on loan from Napoli has been waiting for his first goal for Galatasaray haven provided a couple of assists in opening three games. 

The 25-year-old forward gave the hosts a deserved lead in the 20th minute when he met a perfect cross from Abdulkerim Bardakci deep inside the box and controlled it with a nice first touch before producing a low shot into the middle of the goal. 

His second goal of the night came eight minutes later as he connected well with an inch-perfect cross from Gabriel Sara before latching on to it with a quick shot which hit the underside of the bar and bounced in off it. 

Former Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi made it 3-0 when he scored in the 34th minute.

The visitors reduced the deficit before half time as Mamadou Fall’s close range effort. 

Osimhen did not return for the second half as he was substituted due to injury, according to Galatasaray.

Kasimpasa who had another Nigerian in Kenneth Omeruo staged a late comeback with goals from Haris Hajradinovic who converted a penalty and a 95th minute goal by Da Costa who complete the dramatic comeback for Kasimpasa.

The result left Galatasaray frustrated but still remained top of the log and maintain their unbeaten start to the season with 19 points from the games.
