Nigeria forward Charity Reuben made history by becoming the first woman to score for Al Ahly in the Egyptian Women’s Premier League.

In a historic Cairo derby, the first since the establishment of the women’s league in 1999, Reuben netted twice to lead Al Ahly to a 2-1 victory over Zamalek.

One of her goals came from a corner kick, where she rose to head the ball home for the host team, marking a memorable moment in Egyptian women’s football.

Reuben, who joined Al Ahly ahead of this season, is no stranger to success. The former Nigeria junior international previously played for Bayelsa Queens, where she had multiple stints with the Yenagoa-based club, a former Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champion.

Her experience extends beyond Nigeria, having also played for Kazakhstan’s BIIK Kazurgut, where she featured both in the domestic league and the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) before returning to Nigeria for another term with the Prosperity Girls.
